How Baby’s Away Works

San Diego Baby’s Away has proudly served local and traveling families in the San Diego area since 1997. We offer placing your vacation equipment order online or by phone.  Once your order has been confirmed we will e-mail you an Order Confirmation.

Delivery of your Baby’s Away rental equipment to a rental house, condo, villa, cottage, or hotel is normally made prior to your arrival.  If your order is being delivered to a local resident, we will contact that person to arrange delivery prior to your arrival.  If you are renting a vacation rental property, we coordinate directly with the local company or owner.

Then all you need to do is sit back and enjoy your wonderful vacation!

Once your relaxing stay in the San Diego area has ended, please leave your equipment in the area(s) it was delivered to in your rental house, condo, villa, cottage, or hotel.
We begin pickups the morning of your departure; please call in advance should you need arrangements otherwise.

For pickup from a local resident, we will confirm a pickup time to ensure your vacation is over or you have departed our area.

Does Baby’s Away set up the equipment?

Baby’s Away has been servicing the San Diego area since 1997.  We work with many of the rental agencies and many of the private rentals.  All items are delivered and set up prior to your arrival.  If you have ordered a bed, a request is made for which room you would like to have it set up in.  All other equipment is set up in the perspective areas; for example, high chair in the dining area, exersaucer in the living area.

When will Baby’s Away deliver my equipment?

If you are staying in a vacation rental, Baby’s Away will do our best to have orders taken care of between 10am-4pm.  These are the general check-out and check-in times.  If you are staying with family or friends, we will make arrangements with them to have your items delivered prior to your arrival & to pick up once you no longer need your rental items.

May I pick up my rental items?

Baby’s Away is set up for delivery.  Pick-up by a customer can be arranged with the exception of full cribs due to the liability of setting them up properly.

How do I prepare my rental items for pick-up from my vacation rental?

Please leave the crib/bed as is, Baby’s Away will take care of breaking it down at pick-up.  All other equipment should be left in the perspective place(s) we delivered.  The equipment is delivered clean and ready for your use; upon departure, please leave it respectfully clean.  When renting outdoor sand toys, please make sure all toys are gathered prior to your departure.

What do I do if I need to cancel?

You can cancel an order at anytime up to 48 hours prior to the arrival date. Any cancellation within 48 hours of the arrival date is subject to a $25 cancellation fee. If we do not receive a cancellation prior to delivery we will charge you for the delivery fee plus the $25 late cancellation fee.

Additional information:

  • There is a 3 day minimum rental period on all deliveries.
  • Average delivery rate: Between $40 and $45.
  • Discounts available for long term rentals.
  • We CANNOT deliver to San Diego Airports.
  • This is not a confirmed order until a credit card reservation has been made.

Is your equipment new?

Baby’s Away is required by law to buy all equipment new.  Therefore, our equipment is either in new or excellent (gently used) condition.  We pride ourselves on the quality and cleanliness of our products.  Each product is thoroughly inspected prior to each rental.

Will you install my car seat?

Baby’s Away is not allowed to install car seats for liability reasons.  All our car seats follow normal installation standards which are labeled on the seats.
